About

Hello, my name is Dana. I was born in California and moved to Maine, where my dad is from, when I was 9 and I cannot imagine a better place to move to when life is still tender and one absorbs every detail of what surrounds her.

It’s possible that Maine’s perennial beauty is in its bittersweetness, the turning of the seasons, and the reminder that each day is unique to itself and worthy of our attention.

Once a part-time recreational interest, photography became a full-time occupation when I began my work as communications manager at the Maine Center for Contemporary Art. It did not take long to realize there was no better way to tell their story than through photography – of the galleries, the artists, of our events, the visitors, the staff, photos of kids (and adults) in the CMCA Art Lab studio cultivating the artist in themselves for the first time.

From the CMCA I went on to tell a broader story of Maine’s arts community, photographing events for CIFF, Farnsworth Art Museum, Dowling Walsh Gallery, Camden Conference, Maine Windjammers Association as well as portrait photography for Maine’s artists in their studios.

No matter the place or subject matter, my focus is on capturing the authentic, sometimes unnoticed, and always fleeting moments that reveal the heart of the story – whether between people, places, or time.

I’d love to hear from you – whether you’re planning an event, need portraits, or would like to learn more. Life moves fast, let’s capture something beautiful.
